Bob & Ben established, grew and maintained the company with integrity, honesty, and commitment to service. Their easygoing
nature and involvement in the community had a lasting impact on the lives of many people, including mine. The example they
have set centered on understanding the human side of the business transactions; that people find it most important to be
listened to and taken care of. The list of successful people who worked for Ben & Bob, or were their friends , or family, is long.
Even though many high profile athletes, major professional and collegiate sports programs, and large companies have worked with us
over the years, Bob & Ben did not get swept up in the overpowering hype that is pervasive in the sporting world of today.
From the longevity of the company and response, a relaxed approach has worked well for decades.
Bob & Ben named the store after their father, Mike Ryan. He was my great grandfather on my mother's side of the family.
Mike was a world class marathon runner. He won the Yonkers (NY) marathon in 1908, the World Marathon of London in 1910 and the
Boston Marathon in 1912. (www.bostonmarathon.org). His Boston time of 2:21:18 was especially notable since the course was very wet
and muddy, not conducive to fast times. His mark was bested 8, then 9 years later and then no one came close to Mike's time for
32 years after that.|
